the theme this year is HOW THE OCEAN AFFECTS LIFE IN THE DESERT. even though we don't see the ocean in our immediate environment, it is the giver of life in many ways: balancer of our planetary energy, holding homeostasis for the whole planet, the driver of all weather patterns, sends rain to the desert, the source of salt and nutrients, the source of life and of our own origin.
